Core Job Purpose:

- Works with the Divisional HR Director and/or BU HR Director to to support delivery of the divisional people strategy and embed good people management practices.
- Works with operational management to ensure the business meets its strategic and operational goals.
- Executes the HR interventions and campaigns planned in the division / business unit and ensures the business objectives are realised.
- Accountable for the delivery of HR services in the business and responsible for producing and managing the rolling workforce plan.
- Collects feedback on the effectiveness of the HR interventions and ensures continual improvement in participation and engagement as a result of HR initiatives.

Strategy and Plans:

- Supports the HR Director in the development and implementation HR strategy for the business unit / division.
- Develops a robust workforce plan to enable achievement of business objectives (The workforce plan will cover all HR services from recruitment to leavers management and will be on a 12 month rolling period)
- Ensures the HR services are aligned to Contract, Division and Serco Group strategies.
- Conducts regular reviews of the workforce within the business unit/ division and shared services and takes action to ensure shared service delivery meets the needs of the business (vendor managing shared services on behalf of the respective business unit/division)

Growth and Financials:

- Utilizes the HR service delivery model to ensure that business and HR objectives are fully achieved within budgetary targets.
- Reviews and reports the performance of HR service delivery against objectives and budgetary targets.
- Develops people solutions that will delight customers to ensure that Serco can deliver highly competitive bids, with the aim being to maximise value to the client, to secure the growth of the business.
- Assists in the development of bids contributing to business success and to lead the transition (TUPE or otherwise) of new contracts, procuring services from shared services where required.

Customers and Markets:

- Implements and contributes to continual improvement and innovation so that the business is recognised for developing and delivering excellent people practices and our customers and partners understand Serco`s employer brand.
- Leads the development of excellent employee relations through building positive relationships with trade unions and staff representatives at a local/contract level.

Organisation and People:

- Supports the implementation of employee engagement initiatives across the contract base to drive a culture of exceptional customer service.
- Ensures HR best practice, policies, procedures, processes and systems are in place and adhered to, and are aligned to those in place across Serco Group as appropriate and to exchange best practice with HR professionals across Serco.

Special Features of Job:

- Provide HR leadership of a small business unit (or support to a large business unit) within a Serco Division.
- Member of the business stream management team.
- Advisory role to management team.
- Required to coach and mentor senior peer group and business unit line manager.

Job Dimensions:

- Provide professional HR service to a £150m p.a. business.
- Supports a geographically dispersed business (covering circa 1500) employees

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

- Graduate calibre, ideally MCIPD, with postgraduate qualification.
- A good appreciation of all functions across the business to ensure HR function fully integrates and supports all other business areas.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to ensure that employee communications drives engagement across all levels.
- Strong people management and relationship building skills essential.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to assimilate information quickly, and contribute to the commercial goals of the organisation.
- Strong generalist HR knowledge to challenge and interpret policies and procedures and their implementation by management teams.
- Experience of working in a diverse organisation.
- Evidence of delivering change in complex and demanding environments.
- Industrial/employee relations experience with evidence of building partnership relations with trade union officials at different levels.
- Experience of TUPE

Benefits
