Hosting Support Engineer - Hoofddorp

For one of our clients in Amsterdam I am looking for a Hosting Support Engineer for a contract of 3 months + extension, start date immediately.

MEDIOR/SENIOR SYSTEM ENGINEER (M/F)

As System Engineer you take part of the Hosting Support team and you are responsible for the hosting of our sites and apps. In this role you take care together with the datacenter provider of the proactive and reactive operational maintenance of our virtual hosting environment and you make use of your knowledge of Linux, virtualisation and hosting. Your most important activities will consist of the deployment, migration, maintenance and optimalisation of Servers and various services within our private cloud.

This function is ideal for the system engineer who searches for a dynamic role with personal contacts.

Activities:

Maintenance of the hosting infrastructure
Maintenance of virtual machines (VMWare: 90% Linux/10% Microsoft)
Ensuring security on system level
Maintenance of various services and Middleware
Maintenance of DNS, domains and certificates
Maintenance and optimalisation of databases
Installment of new releases and updates of (web)applications
Technical maintenance of diverse central components
(Pro)active identificarion, analysis and measurement of performance issues
Solutioning of incidents
Documentation
Service desk for operational requests
Participation in virtual/project teams for the purpose of new
services/functionalities

Your profile:

Minimum of HBO level (Polytechnic)
Team player with own initiative
Flexible and service oriented mentalitity
Strong analytical capacities
Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in a (complex) IT/hosting environment
The world of the console doesn't know any secrets for you
Able to solve performance bottlenecks independently and to fulfil optimalisation requests
High availability and security are guaranteed
Proven expertise of and experience with (web)server maintenance (Red Hat) Linux,
Windows server) in combination with web Servers (Apache, Nginx, IIS etc.)
Profound knowledge and experience with VMWare ESX
Profound knowledge of Internet protocolls (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SMTP etc.)
Experience with the maintenance of netwerks, load-balancers and Firewalls
Able to develop scripts and to adapt them
Relevant work experience with the maintenance of databases (in particular with MySQL,
MongoDB en MS-SQL)
Experience with Varnish is an advantage
Experience with (web)server and application deployment tools is an advantage
(Capistrano/Webistrano, Puppet etc.)
Experience with monitoring solutions is an advantage (especially in the area of Nagios & Cacti)
You have proven experience with (large) hosting environments
Excellent communicative and social skills
You have no problem with working extra standby hours
