Due to continuous success in all areas, my Essex based client is seeking a Highways engineer for an initial 3 Month contract.

My client is in need of a competent Engineer with practical experience of: - - Being able to use Microsoft software such as word, excel and outlook.

- Good communication and inter-personal skills
- Show enthusiasm, willingness and be proactive in progressing schemes particularly where issues arise   
- Knowledge of surveying techniques to accurately record existing site details and measurements
- Carry out and organise traffic engineering surveys
- Must be fully mobile to attend site anywhere in borough and be able and be physically capable and prepared to walk the distances required to carry out survey work possibly in inclement weather
- Prepared to work on occasion outside office hours
- Be able to design traffic engineering schemes to a competent skill level
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD and be able to produce scaled working drawings accurately dimensioned on that can be understood and built by contractors
- Present schemes, programmes and estimated costs to senior Education and Children's Services Managers and liaise with Head Teachers
- Produce committee reports
- Carry out consultations and meet various people such as Police, London Buses, residents and business and resolve their issues and objections
- Knowledge of Traffic Orders
- Some involvement in implementation of works involving site setting out and other site meetings with Contractors as requested by Construction Team Manager.

The candidate must be able to carry out most of these duties with minimal supervision and assistance and will be doing the work themselves rather than managing other people. Generally they should have a broad experience of design and implementation for traffic engineering schemes and demonstrate a proven track record for getting the work done to satisfactory completion.
