Heritage & Engagement Manager (Maternity Cover)

c. £25,704-£28,339 depending on skills and experience, 35 hours a week
(Job Share applications will be considered)

The Abbotsford Trust is looking to appoint a Heritage & Engagement Manager to cover the maternity leave of the current post holder. The Heritage and Engagement Manager is the senior internal professional within the heritage field and therefore is central to the delivery of the charity's mission and vision, leading on the development and refreshment of the heritage offer.

Working closely with the Directors and other colleagues, the Heritage & Engagement Manager will:
- Lead on the development, interpretation and promotion of the Abbotsford collections, working closely with key stakeholders
- Lead on the development and delivery of learning and engagement activities that draw in audiences locally, nationally and internationally, including schools, families, arts and cultural groups, historic and literary groups
- Work in partnership as appropriate with the Collections Trust, partners and external bodies to deliver an agreed strategic approach to the conservation and preservation of the Abbotsford collections
- Act as the internal heritage and engagement expert and provide guidance to the Directors, Executive Committee and senior colleagues
- Manage the Heritage and Engagement team
- Support the Development Director in developing attractive propositions for funders and potential funders

The successful candidate will have a professional background and academic qualifications in a relevant field and previous experience developing and designing and delivering successful and engaging events and attractions within a heritage or museum environment. S/he will have knowledge of the heritage, curatorial, educational or cultural sectors together with an interest in and knowledge of Sir Walter Scott and his legacy. S/he will be creative, analytical, and able to interact confidently with audiences of all ages.
