HELPDESK SUPPORT

AUSTIN, TX

*Position is a support role requiring more work direction whereby worker follows generally defined procedures.

*Provides MVSS product support and services for custom applications.

*Provide experienced level standard desktop and help desk support for computer system, networking, database or general IT support through hands-on and remote troubleshooting.

*Develops proficiency within assigned projects utilizing appropriate methods, practices and concepts.

*Acquires general knowledge and understanding of the organization, the product lines, and customer base.

*Responsibility includes end user support and customer service.

NOTE: This role may require the ability to work 24/7 on-call rotation off-site coverage shift. This role may be on site at Austin Center or at a customer location.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Technical Contributions: Conducts assigned technical tasks that produce accurate, timely results used for decisions within an area of technical specialty at a project level. Follows defined Help Desk operating procedures; accurately log all Help Desk contacts using call tracking software.

2. Interactions: Interacts with other personnel, principally within the assigned division/staff organization and customer base and begins to develop a network of resources to facilitate completion of assignments. Interaction is primarily by email and phone. Participates on and may lead teams as required.

3. Leadership: May be responsible or providing functional work direction and/or training to contract workers or tech aides.

4. Communications: Communicates results of assigned technical tasks to respective business groups and/or appropriate customers and/or appropriate technical community. group.

5. Corporate Initiatives: Builds a working knowledge of key corporate initiatives and applies appropriate tools to the job function.

This job also requires performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

- The worker is expected to develop acceptable work habits, skills, knowledge and contributions consistent with higher technical levels so that the worker possibly may be considered for appointment to such level. Possesses and applies analytical problem solving skills.
- Applies methodology of process improvement when applicable. Possesses technical and non-technical communication skills such as listening, reading, writing and speaking.
- Possesses interpersonal and team skills necessary to perform effectively in a variety of cross-functional team situations.
- Effectively utilizes available information resources and systems. Participates in recommended educational and training opportunities.

Acquires knowledge of division's products, customers, and customers' needs.

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years+ experience maintaining and configuring networking equipment and/or 3 years+ experience maintaining and troubleshooting databases, especially MSSQL
- 3 years+ experience installing and configuring software and hardware on PCs/Servers
- 2 year+ previous experience in phone-based helpdesk/tech support call center environment
- Technical certifications such as NETWORK+, A+, CCNA, OR MCP

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
. Experience in a Software Support Environment
. 4 years+ experience in a phone-based helpdesk/tech support contact center environment
. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in technical field
