KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Hedge Accounting team provides finance support and control to manage the P&L volatility on Group Treasury's interest rate portfolio as well as dealing directly with some teams in locations as diverse as Europe, Africa and the US. This is done through the use of cash flow and fair value hedge accounting.

This role will require partnership with Front Office risk management functions and the Product Control team to build and maintain complex hedge arrangements to control income volatility from the Group Treasury derivative book. Specifically:

HEDGE ACCOUNTING BAU (80%):
* Monitoring and reporting of Hedge Accounting for debt fair value hedge arrangements, in accordance with set procedures
* Conducting hedge builds and similar activity in hedging system, including modelling risk and working with ALM Treasury to ensure optimal decisions are made for the hedge accounting solution
* Hedge effectiveness testing and reporting for monthly, quarterly and annual returns
* P&L analysis of the Hedge Accounting solution for a variety of stakeholders, including CFO of Treasury
* Preparation of monthly Inform reconciliation (Balance Sheet substantiation)
* SOX controls monitoring and reporting

PROJECT LEAD & AD-HOC WORK (20%):
* Close collaboration with Treasury Product Control to understand impact from their positions and present holistic analysis of the resultant Balance sheet and P&L balances
* Systems development/process improvements on in house built Hedging system. Identifying automating opportunities and management information enhancements on the various elements of maintaining the hedging relationships and work closely with IT to deliver the required solutions
Engage and work across various Treasury and Finance functions as part of on going projects such as Structural Reform

PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA or equivalent)
* Practical experience of IAS 39 Accounting Standard (treatment of financial assets and liabilities)
* A working knowledge of hedge accounting under IAS 39
* Banking experience within a Finance function (with some preferred Financial Control and Treasury Finance experience)
* High level of excel based analysis skill
* Good financial product knowledge, with experience of interest rate products preferred
