Are you an experienced Health and Safety Assistant seeking a new opportunity?
An exciting contract has arisen to join the team based in Cheshire. You will provide a range of support services to the team related to industrial health and safety, management systems and environmental reporting.

To Provide Health and Safety Support to the Occupational Health and Safety Manager.
o Provide support to the Management Systems Manager
o Provide environmental reporting support to the SHE Advisor (Environment)

Deliverables
o Compile data for environmental reporting under the Environmental Permits and prepare the reports for issue to the Environment Agency.
o Collate and compile data for the sustainability reporting activities.
o Maintenance of the Environmental Aspects Register.
o Maintenance of the database that record and track incidents, events and near misses. Within the database monitor and report on action progress.
o Assist with the sentencing of events recorded within the above database.
o Maintenance of the database that records behavioural safety observations.
o Prepare safety information briefing material for distribution
o Preparation of weekly reports for incidents and events for distribution to the Lead Team and to UUK.
o Administration of the CoSHH Database
o Assist with the upkeep of the management system by providing support to the preparation and review of company instructions.
o Monitor and report on audit and inspection corrective action progress.
o Organise and attend workplace inspections and internal audits as required, taking minutes and actions as required (attendance at inspection/audit and preparation of inspection/audit reports)
o Compile data for SHEQ reporting for monthly internal reports.
o Secretary to SHEQ governance meetings (eg MSEC/HSERC) as required.
o Secretary for safety assessment reviews (eg HAZOP) as required.
o Maintain COSHH Database, data entry and pro-actively chase reviews/renewals of COSHH assessments.
o Deliver basic advice on SHEQ issues, with reference upwards as required
o Carry out specific projects and research and provide support to the preparation of reports and committee papers as required.
o Proactively support to the smooth running of the SHEQ department
o Deal with incoming queries to the SHEQ department in a professional and effective manner, liaising with internal and external customers as appropriate
o In addition there will be a requirement to perform general administrative and secretarial support to the SHEQ team, including organising meetings, book travel, take minutes and maintain records

Essential/Desirable Skills

Essential
o Basic Health and Safety qualification (eg NEBOSH Certificate)
o Strong IT skills, including knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software (eg MS Excel/Word)
o Good written English skills.
o Good numeracy skills.
o Good interpersonal and communication skills.
o Excellent organisation skills
o A proactive and flexible attitude
o An interest in SHEQ Management and a desire to progress in that field
o Good attention to detail

Desirable
o Knowledge and experience of ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards.
o Experience of internal auditing.
o Ability to take accurate minutes
o Ability to use VISIO software package
o Experience within a similar role
