HEALTHCARE PROJECT MANAGER - LABORATORY INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LIMS)

OBJECTIVES

To support the delivery the remaining project related elements of the programme.
This is a 6 month assignment based in South Wales. Travel will be required to other sites
Rate up to £300/day

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates must possess:

Greater than 2 years' experience of implementing complex clinical systems and associated organisational change, preferably within the NHS

Understanding and experience of Pathology lab systems and processes, (Blood Sciences/Cell Pathology/Blood Transfusion)

Greater than 2 experience of working with third party software suppliers

Organisational and facilitation skills

Leadership experience

Proficient user of MS Project, MS Excel and MS Visio

Understanding of PRINCE2 project management methodology

Understanding of Managing successful Programmes Programme Management Methodology

Strong interpersonal skills including:

1. Ability to facilitate diverse interest groups, explore diverse opinions and secure agreement on a coherent way forward

2. Articulate technologist, able to communicate in relevant business terms on a peer basis with clinical and business representatives.

3. Ability to challenge, negotiate and present solutions effectively

4. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships

PRIMARY ACTIVITIES

- Work with the ICT Programme Lead(s) to successfully deliver the LIMS programme in a timely and safe manner.
- Work with other teams and third party supplier to successfully deliver the remaining elements of the programme.
- Work with Support team to ensure software releases are delivered in line with the implementation plan.
- Develop and monitor project plans which will require sound analytical judgments involving highly complex facts or situations which require the analysis interpretation and comparison of a range of options ensuring that they are consistent with the agreed project scope.
- Prepare Project Stage documentation and Exception plans, if necessary, take corrective action
- Collaborate on the production of product descriptions ensure they are fit for purpose and signed off before work is significantly progressed
- Direct and motivate the project team while emphasising a focus on product delivery
- Liaise with the Project Board or its appointed Project Assurance roles to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project.
- Take responsibility for overall progress and use of resources and initiate corrective action where necessary.
- Manage Identify and assess the main priorities and risks associated with the Project, including the development of contingency plans and managing conflicting priorities between stakeholders with different expectations.
- Agree technical and quality strategies with appropriate members of the Project Board.
- Preparing reports including: Highlight, End Stage and End Project, and Lessons Learned Report taking any required follow-on action and or recommendations .
- Keep project activities and resources in line with plans or adjust plan in a way which is consistent with the project scope and definition.
- Work closely with key suppliers to ensure deliverables are provided to timescales..
- Working with clinical representatives and local health organisation representatives, in Pathology to determine the activities required for organisational change to implement the programme.
- Work with the Implementation Team Leader and Service Management Lead to ensure Service Management activities are designed for each release.
- Manage the user forums, working with health organisation leads on key project issues to ensure an agreed way forward across the health organisation.
- Attend local health organisation Project Boards as requested.
- Support the Programme Leads to deliver any additional related projects as directed
