Dillard University, classified by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education as a balanced arts and sciences/professional institution, invites applications for the position of Endowed Chair in Health Disparities. The University is located in the culturally rich and diverse city of New Orleans, Louisiana.

The position will be at the associate or professor level. The Endowed Chair will report to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Endowed Chair position is established as a central part of the University's Health Disparities Research Endowment supported by the National Institutes of Health/NIMHD.

Individuals with exceptional credentials, research experience, and visionary leadership are invited to apply. Successful candidates will serve as Dillard University's Health Disparities Endowed Chair. This is a research-centric position and he/she will serve as the strategic thinker and leader in fostering excellence and providing intellectual leadership for faculty and students by establishing, maintaining and strengthening a nationally recognized research program specializing in health disparities.

This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity in its role and capacity for outreach dimensions to community, industry, and policy audiences that require an outstanding research record of global and national prominence and accomplishments.

The Endowed Chair shall develop, implement and oversee a health disparities research program supporting the institutional resources and research capacity building and making the program and the university a premier institution for training and educating researchers to better understand and eliminate health disparities. The successful candidate shall facilitate sharing of ideas and enhancing communication and collaboration through four major disciplines of science: Environmental Health, Global Health, Nursing, and Public Health. He/she will manage resource allocations of the endowment to meet and fulfill three critical areas of the program: 1) strengthen the research infrastructure; 2) recruit highly respected research faculty to lead and train young minority students in the areas of health disparities and 3) recruit and retain motivated and committed racial and ethnic minority students with a challenging and nationally respected curriculum with global opportunities and presence. The Chair also will be expected to mentor junior faculty and collaborate with Dillard researchers, including through the established P20 and other research in health disparities and other areas.

Dillard University will aggressively pursue and accelerate its research agenda to enhance its status as a major liberal arts and research-oriented university which continues to strengthen its teaching through STEM programs and actively advancing its research record in Social Sciences, Psychology, Nursing, Public Health, Liberal Arts, Business, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences and International Programs.
