Health and Safety Advisor

HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVISOR BASED IN EAST LONDON. 6 MONTH CONTRACT. £35 TO £38 PER HOUR.

My client is a market leader in delivering integrated systems for transportation and traffic management. The services they provide include on-site management, central systems, operations support, patron support, business support and field services.

JOB SUMMARY:

The contract role exists to provide CDM, Health Safety and Welfare support for my clients London business; to ensure the Company complies with its statutory obligations, Safety Manuals are in place and maintained and that project management staff use appropriate Health and Safety Management Systems without importing unacceptable risk.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Experience of working with clients and managing the relationships effectively, delivering training and conducting presentations
- Health and Safety Professional in the Construction sector, specifically with CDM experience
- Thorough understanding of CDM2007 and future CDM2015 Regulations
- Up to date knowledge of current legal developments in respects of construction and associated law
- NEBOSH
- A valid CSCS Card
- At least 5-8 years' experience in Safety Management in a multi-disciplined environment (including training delivery)
- Audit experience of OHSAS 18001

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- To understand and keep up to date with legislation and contractual requirements; to ensure legal, business and client compliance with regards to rules and procedures affecting CDM, health, safety, welfare and the environment
- To attend and conduct training sessions for internal and external staff
- To work with senior management, project management and operational staff in a positive and constructive manner, advising and assisting in the improvement, implementation and maintenance of an effective CDM, Health and Safety Management System
- To conduct site Inspections and surveys including documenting site specific risk assessments, method statements; liaising with the PMO for reporting purposes
- To maintain an overview of the safety requirements within all stages of a project life cycle, providing guidance, advice and assistance to operational staff as and when required including notices and bulletins
- To monitor and record all internal and external non-conformance's, near misses and work constructively with all levels of management and staff in implementing solutions to prevent reoccurrence
- In conjunction with managers and the Human Resources Department, identify development and training needs for staff that are necessary to meet the levels of competency required to make the CDM, Health and Safety Management System effective

LOCATION:East London

DURATION: 6 months (initially)

PAY RATE: £35 to £38 per hour
