Are you a leader looking for a challenging information technology (IT) service delivery role in the Ontario Public Service? If so, apply for the role of Head, Operations in the DATA CENTRE OPERATIONS BRANCH, INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNOLOGY SERVICES (ITS) with the MINISTRY OF GOVERNMENT SERVICES.

ITS is responsible for the operations of IT infrastructure assets for the Ontario Public Service (OPS). The Data Centre Operations Branch is responsible for the operation of facilities and IT infrastructure including a new state-of-the-art Tier IV certified data centre and other sites throughout Ontario.

ITS data centres host over 2,000 applications including mission critical and public safety applications providing essential IT services to support government programs. The technology platforms that enable this service delivery include mainframes, Windows and Unix physical and virtual Servers as well as supporting storage, network and other common infrastructure components.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE?

AS HEAD, OPERATIONS, YOU WILL:

- be responsible for strategic optimization, service delivery and management of all aspects of the Data Centre Operations function
- work closely with IT executives and decision makers in the OPS to develop, implement and support the cost-effective operation of all OPS Data Centres
- partner with stakeholders to align business requirements and IT Infrastructure offerings
- ensure the efficient use of IT resources including equipment and personnel across multiple, geographically dispersed locations
- oversee Data Centre Asset Management
- develop and implement Common Infrastructure Sustainment, Maintenance Schedules and Equipment Refresh Planning
- champion and implement change initiatives
- modernize service delivery for Application and Web Hosting, Mainframe, Enterprise Print and File and Print services

- You are an experienced strategic leader with a track record of delivering results and implementing change in a complex environment
- You have provided vision and leadership in developing client service models that support strategy and business directives

COMMUNICATIONS AND RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:

- You can build, maintain and enhance collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and business partnerships
- You can effectively manage expectations and anticipate and resolve major obstacles and conflicts
- You are an excellent communicator with sound judgment, strong negotiation skills and political acuity

TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT :

- You have experience in planning, controllership, governance and accountability
- You have experience managing human, financial, material, information and time resources
- You have experience in implementing cost effective measures in branch planning
- You are familiar with IT resource management methodologies

SALARY RANGE: $132,600.00 - $160,250.00 per year
