Head Of Stress Engineering (Mechanical) Preston

Based near Preston, the Head of Stress will manage a team of stress engineers to plan and perform structural analysis on behalf of design teams to time, cost & quality objectives.

The Head of Stress' responsibilities will also include:

* Be responsible for the appropriate manning of the stress department to meet current & future demands
* Ensure that the appropriate analysis tools are being deployed & training is provided
* Analyses will consider the static strength, stability, and fracture/fatigue life
* Candidate will formally document all analysis results; preparing technical reports and presenting findings at technical reviews as required.
* Candidate will provide inputs and assist in the development of structural test plans and assist in pre and post-testing analyses.
* The results and documentation for all assigned tasks will be thoroughly reviewed to assure that outputs are complete, correct, and integrated with project objectives.
* The candidate will comply with existing processes and procedures and recommend process improvements where appropriate
* Provide support for tender submissions

Managing a team of 6 Stress Engineers, the Head of Stress will be a BSc / BEng / MEng / MSc qualified in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering and have a minimum of 5 years experience in classical stress analysis and finite element analysis of structural components.

In addition, the Head of Stress Engineering will have experience in the Nuclear / Aerospace / highly regulated industry and ideally have a familiarity with composite structures, as well as possessing experience with PATRAN / NASTRAN / ABAQUS and also has project team leadership experience.

For the successful Head of Stress, a salary up to £65,000 is on offer and this role is commutable from Lancaster, Preston, Leyland, Bolton, Manchester, Bury, Blackburn, Liverpool, Warrington & Wigan.
