Head of Service - Learning and Achievement

Our local authority client is looking for an Interim Head of Service -Learning and Achievement to develop the vision for early years and school improvement services and strive to achieve/exceed performance targets within the Council ad Children's Wellbeing specific plans. You will help enable high educational standards and attainment levels to be achieved by children and young people in schools and early years settings through supporting and challenging the development of high quality teaching and schools/setting leadership (including governors). You will maintain and develop relationships with academies and free schools, ensuring systems are in place to know how well they are performing and providing appropriate challenge. You will lead and manage the early years and school improvement team and the governor function of the local authority ensuring that statutory requirements are met and the delivery of high quality services/support to schools and early years settings.

Essential experience would include a successful track record as an experienced leader with a track record of improvement and delivery of high quality education and early years services within a local authority setting. You will be politically aware and have an excellent knowledge of educational improvement and national standards. A degree and teaching qualification is required with evidence of further professional development such as Ofsted Inspector accreditation and/or School improvement professional qualifications.
