Head of Policy

Background
Our healthcare client is currently recruiting for a Head of Policy to work on their 5 month contract - you can be based in either Leeds or London but will be required to travel between the two sites (majority of the team are London based). The purpose of the post is to lead the policy team, in which proactive and successful development is critical and integral to the continuity and ongoing development of our clients national programmes. This post is evolving however you may be asked to lead a small team that is pivotal role within the Branch, bringing together and co-ordinating the wide range of responsibilities that are needed to ensure the programme is successfully maintained.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
The postholder will be responsible for all immunisation policy issues, including:
- Stakeholder management
- Development and implementation of a reconstituted advisory committee (including legislative requirements)
- Policy on commissioning services
- Development and management of governance arrangements to ensure safe transition of programmes
- Overseeing correspondence, briefing and other business on policy issues

Skills/Experience Required
Key Competencies for the role.
Understands and uses PPM techniques, including risk management. Understands the validity, relevance and limitations of different sources of evidence. Design policies that take account of legal environment, EU considerations, and guidance on policy/regulatory appraisal including effective anticipation of risk. Transparent policy delivery and communication. Ability to apply lessons leaned from success and failure

Understand the wider strategic environment and make appropriate resource decisions
