Our client is an established name in retail banking, due to a period of investment they business is undertaking a sizable change programme, one of the largest and most complex in the UK today.

Due to this transition they now require a Head of Payments to join their impressive operations in Edinburgh.

The role holder will be accountable for the Payments design and approach deployed across the Bank including the payments strategy, relationship with 3rd party suppliers and the Payments Council. They will be required to lead the creation of the banks payments operations through the programme incorporating the customer service strategy and the banks risk appetite.

To operate at the specified level of seniority and fulfil expectations across the full range of technical areas, the position holder will need a holistic understanding of the environment in which the Bank operates (economic, banking industry, regulatory, and organisational). The candidate must be able to challenge colleagues in a collaborative and constructive manner, have the courage to pose questions to ensure the right, fact based decisions are always made, and be able to represent/understand the perspective of all internal and external stakeholders.


Evidence of interaction with Payments Industry/Payments Council

Thorough knowledge of current and future Payments Service Regulations

Management of outsourced Payments Service Provider (eg Clearing Bank), or Agency Bank experience.

Evidence of a high level of strategic thinking and planning

Proven ability to build a high performing team

Strong relationship & stakeholder management skills

This is an excellent opportunity for someone within a 'big four' bank to step in to a 'Head of' appointment within an agile, dynamic, forward thinking retail bank. The role is offered on a permanent basis with a salary of £80,000 plus an extensive benefits package.
