A unique opportunity has arisen working for one of the UK's most recognised consumer brands heading up their media function, leading a team of 6. Setting and delivering the company's strategy for media across ATL and digital, including social channels too. The business is looking for applicants to have a solid mix of brand and direct response media, comfortable handling budgets of £80m+ and able to display exemplary leadership skills.

This is a maternity cover contract initially for 9 months, which could potentially extend to 12. The team you will be leading are all exceptionally high performing and a mix of traditional ATL and digital media managers. You will be joining at a critical point, seeing out the completion of the 2013 strategy, but in Q3 your work will move to the creation of the strategy for each of the businesses brands for 2014. This will start with budget submissions in July/August, then the design of their media strategy for what each of the brands will be doing for the following year.

Working in a multi-brand environment, the strategy you develop needs to ensure media and sponsorship plans position each brand appropriately to compete, but not cannibalise each other, yet provide an integrated and aligned brand story across all media channels.

You will also be managing all external agencies and suppliers and be responsible for ensuring appropriate levels of service and value for money is delivered.

This role won't suit if you've come from a corporate comms background, or have only worked in brand based media communications. You must have extensive experience across both brand AND direct response media, including TV planning, buying, affiliates, search, print, etc. Your work will align closely to ensuring sales objectives are met through the effective delivery of the media mix, driving footfall and customer acquisition. So you absolutely have to have experience across both aspects, as well as experience delivering this through traditional ATL and digital channels.

You will also be dealing with Social Media, namely partnerships with social platforms like Linked In, Facebook, Twitter, etc. setting the media strategy and allocating budgets for each of the businesses brands. However its execution is managed by the digital teams themselves.

You will be controlling a massive media budget split across multiple, high profile brand names. The company is No1 in their market and a multi-billion Pound operation. This really will be an excellent opportunity if you're looking to step client side to work for one of Britain's biggest and brightest operations as the business has said they're open to considering people from both client and agency side operations.

Role: Head of Media
Location: London
Salary: £65,000 to £75,000 basic
Benefits: £7k car allowance, significant bonus and benefits package
Term: Initially a 9 month contract, could extend to 12

Experience Required:

- Experience can be from a media agency/consultancy or from a client side consumer brand organisation
- Previous experience working in a structured brand/brand Matrix environment, leading media planning and strategy will be highly beneficial, but not strictly necessary
- Must have significant experience of both brand AND direct response media
- Experience leading good sized teams of media planners and managers
- Experience across both ATL and digital media (search & affiliates)
- Excellent negotiation skills, able to get the best value and optimum ROI from media spend
- Proven ability in delivering strategic recommendations across both brand and direct response media
- Direct responsibility for managing large (£30-100m plus) media budgets, including extensive TV planning and buying experience
- Must have the necessary visas to live and work in the UK
