Head of Independent Model Validation, Basel II & III, Edinburgh

Our client a major financial services company require a Head of Independent Model Validation based in Edinburgh for a 6 months+ contract. This position will be Accountable for the direct delivery of robust independent review programme to assess the accuracy of Model Inputs, to regulatory standards (MIAMP). The programme ensures in/depth review of quantitative and qualitative inputs to source, reporting on accuracy outcomes on all Wholesale Basle PD Models, recommending necessary remediation's and actions to maximise the efficacy of the underlying models and end user behaviours. The role is to provide specialist independent credit Model testing and guidance to the risk and wider business, responsible to the Head of CQA, MCAST and the Board for the elevation of Credit Model validations (IMV/MIAMP), concerns and where appropriate the need for monitored Re-development or Implementation remediation.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Experience in Model Validation - Essential - Significant prior experience of review or development, validation and implementation of analytical risk measurement tools including Retail & Wholesale models (both preferred) and a demonstrated ability to develop new ideas and work independently.
- Knowledge Retail Basel Model regulated requirements - Essential
- Expert level appreciation of pertinent regulatory regimes (focus on UK) and in particular, regulation applicable to Foundation and Advanced Internal Ratings Based models.
- Prior experience in delivering both written and verbal communications to a senior management audience and of developing constructive relationships with a range of different stakeholders.
- Led/managed a team of analysts - Highly Desirable
