Head of Health & Safety

Our Public Sector Client based in Bristol requires a Head of Health & Safety for a 3 month contract.

This role will be to fully review and redevelop the Client's overarching H&S strategy. You will be required to develop a new H&S Strategy and make recommendations as to how this should be taken forward and what the H&S reporting structure should be within the organisation.

This will include a full review of our current approach and a potential re write of:
- H&S Policy & Arrangements.
- Organisational responsibilities
- Approach to Measuring & Monitoring performance and the organisation's H&S culture
- Consultation & Communication
- Managers Guidance

KEY TASKS:
* Develop Client's H&S strategy
* Make recommendations about how the H&S team and reporting arrangements should be managed in light of the new strategy
* Review and where necessary rewrite existing H&S Policy, guidance and communication plans

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* NEBOSH H&S Diploma or equivalent
* Experience of successfully developing and implementing strategy and policy to achieve high level objectives
* Experience of Stakeholder management, developing and implementing engagement strategies and Communications Plans.
* Excellent communication skills (written & oral) including production of reports and delivering presentations
* Experience working with and advising Directors
* Experience of developing measures and systems that track business performance and inform future strategies to improve it
* Knowledge of Health Safety and Welfare legislation and best practice
* Understanding the role of risk management in improving performance
* Knowledge of the operation of a Health & Safety Committee and legal H&S consultative requirements
* A working knowledge of the ISO quality standards for H&S is desirable
