My public sector client is looking for a Head of Employee Relations for an ASAP start.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
The Employee Relations specialist will be primarily managing the organisations relationship with the Trade Unions. They will be the individual in the Agency who ensures that the day-to-day and overarching relationship is effective and that it is defined by collaboration and consistency. Through chairing Agency wide and directorate/project specific meetings with the trade unions the role holder will be responsible for ensuring matters are dealt with objectively, and that an Agency wide picture is built. They will have a role in crisis management, where necessary, as arising conflicts in views or approaches are inevitable in a time of turbulent change. They are the subject matter expert for Trade Union relations and will need to advise the business regularly and ensure that any issues are dealt with promptly to avoid conflict. In addition to this the role holder will own the Employee Relations agreement and will play a crucial role balancing the negotiation of Facilities Time against assuring the trade unions understand our commitment to the relationship.

Skills/Experience Required:
* Must be an in-depth ER specialist/expert
* Ideally operated at CS Grade 6 level and be very experienced at interfacing/influencing at SCS 2 level, including having 'difficult conversations'
* Must have substantial experience of managing the ER, consultation and employment law aspects of significant organisational change programmes
* Ideally s/he must have experience of dealing with the ER issues associated with implementing a new pay and grading system (awareness of Civil Service pay and grading not essential)
* Ideally, s/he must have an awareness of how HR/ER processes 'work' in the Civil Service including working within Cabinet Office regulations.
