Head of Communications

Government agency requires a Head of Corporate Communication to be responsible for ensuring that all communication activities are properly and strategically managed so that stakeholders, staff and the media are informed about and understand strategic direction, policies and programmes. Minimum of five years substantial experience. Must have previous experience of running a press office, preferably within the public sector and ideally within government. Also experience of managing communications planning, internal communications, stakeholder communication and of managing staff.

Essential Skills/Knowledge:
Copywriting, media handling, communications planning. Ability to work confidently with managers at the highest level of the organisation, and to build strong working relationships with department press office and communications teams.

Desirable Skills/Knowledge:
Knowledge of government communication processes and policies; knowledge/experience of working with ministerial private office; presentation skills.
