Head of Commercial Projects sought by our London based public sector client for an initial 6-12 months contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved at the start of implementing a new commercial model.

The Head of Commercial Projects is not expected to be expert in procurement, category management or commissioning. Instead you will focus on identifying new commercial opportunities for the client to consider.

You role may involve identifying additional revenue generation opportunities through to the use of alternative service delivery vehicles and developing new markets.

What is not required is a "how to guide" for the client. Potential candidates for the role will be required to demonstrate that they have personally overseen the procurement and commissioning of innovative, complex, high-value solutions across a diverse range of services and functions to deliver significant savings for a large organisation.

This interim assignment is focused on supporting the client to develop its approach to commercial services and consider options for mainstreaming this activity into its commissioning and procurement functions - hence the reason they are looking to make an interim, rather than permanent, appointment.

To be successful as the Head of Commercial Projects you will be educated to graduate level in a relevant subject area or equivalent by experience. MCIPS/FCIPS is desirable.

As Head of Commercial Projects you will have expert knowledge of best practice in the external market and experience of embedding such practice into a large and complex organisation. Ideally including procurement legislation.

You will also be able to demonstrate an ability to deliver commercial innovation into local government. Likewise demonstrable experience of enabling cultural/behavioural change in the way that organisations approach service delivery. Experience of market development. Commercial experience gained in the public and/or private sector will also be an advantage.

You will be a skilled communicator and influencer with well developed negotiation skills. you will have a style and approach that allows you to establish credibility with a wide range of key stakeholders quickly. You will be confident leading and managing radical change.
