Head of Buying, Pharmaceuticals - West London - Circa. £60-70K

Our client is a leading Pharmaceutical Importer for the UK, with a strong market share and strong existing relations within the pharmacy market. As part of their on-going development and continued desire to improve they are now looking to hire an Head of Buying.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead the buying team and be a strong people manager within the business. Manager negotiations and reduce overall costs for the business. In addition you will influence the strategic development of the portfolio and identify new opportunities.

Secondary Responsibilities:

- Good working relationships with suppliers
- Strong market awareness of product availability
- Awareness of market price movements
- Monitoring any overstocks or short dated products and taking action to clear
- Promoting products to maximize sales and profits
- Working with the Pricing Manger to devise the right selling prices
- Communication of key sales related information to the sales teams
- Analysis of competitor ranges and selling prices
- Managing support buying staff in theIndiaoffice
- Advising other members of the buying of market information eg new product launches
- Ad hoc projects when required
- Any other duties as and when required
- Line Management
- Strategic portfolio development

Essential Experience, Skills and Abilities:

- Generics buying experience a distinct advantage; other pharmaceutical buying experience also advantageous
- Negotiation skills and a track record in effective cost focussed buying
- Supply chain experience and a track record in efficient stock management
- Analytical skills and attention to detail to support the buying role
- Positive attitude and willingness to deliver results
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to deliver against and report on demanding KPIs, on time and in full
- Proficient IT skills, fully competent at using Microsoft Office packages and the ability to learn our in-house systems (full training will be given).
- Responsive to the rapidly changing nature of the business
