Head of Business Reporting - Public Sector

Major UK housing association requires a Head of Business Reporting, which involves managing a team of 8 consisting of both qualified and none qualified Accountants and the main duties of the role will include Management Accounts and KPI reporting. There will also be a requirement to complete annual budget cycles as well as re-forecasting. As the organisation is currently implementing a new financial system, the role will also involve reviewing current processes and controls in relation to this project.

The ideal candidate will need to be a confident communicator in order to build relationships and communicate to all levels of the business. Housing experience is not essential and they are happy to accept candidates with a commercial background, with an understanding of how processes work within the public sector. Candidates must have advanced Excel experience and have patience and tenacity to push projects through.

Key areas:
Implementation of robust budgets, metrics and performance targets and consequence management within governance timescales, Business Reporting function in line with operational requirements, provide strategic direction and advice on the effective use of operational information in order to achieve objectives and KPI's, maximise the value and impact of Business Reporting function, deliver monthly reporting requirements on time. Deliver quarterly forecasts and annual budgets to governance timescales.

Essential skills/experience:
 CCAB accountancy or other qualification with substantial post qualification experience
 Experience in a similar role with demonstrated commercial awareness
 Understand Key Performance Measures and Indicators that drive company measurement, reporting across all functions.
 Understand how metrics and measures align and track against overall business strategies, goals and objectives.
 Strong ability to manage large budgets
 Strong stakeholder management skills; champion and rally the organisation around BI
 Ability to build a team. - Demonstrate standard management competencies such as communication, presentation, management, leadership
 Strong technical knowledge of financial and BR tools and proficiency in their use
 Desirable: Excellent Excel skills
