Head of Accounting

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join the Constructionline division of our large FTSE100 organisation on a contract basis until July 2014. Constructionline is the nation's leading pre-qualification register for the construction industry. We have over 22,000 registered members and 8,000 users amongst our 3000 clients, most of which are within the public sector.

The role involves leading a team of two part time qualified accountants. The accounts team perform evaluations of the financial strength of selected members that do not initially pass our financial criteria, appraise the business plans of start-up firms, and investigate those members who have been reported as high risk of failure by a credit reference agency.

The Finance Manager will be CCAB qualified, ideally with experience of both commerce and construction industry background. Good knowledge of accounting and financial issues is required along with a good understanding how a SME operates and their particular problems (over 90% of our members are SMEs). Strong IT skills are required including Microsoft Office package especially excel (Intermediate to Advanced). Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to be able to communicate with operational staff and clients.

Desired Experience/Skills:

Knowledge of UK insolvency issues.

Understanding of the construction industry and public sector ethos.
