Projektbeschreibung

The World Maritime University was established in 1983 by the International Maritime Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations. WMU wishes to enhance its role as a global centre of excellence for postgraduate education and research in the maritime field. WMU offers three Master of Science programs, one in Sweden and two in China, and a Ph.D. program in Maritime Affairs that offers doctoral students opportunities for research across the maritime field, from shipping & port management to maritime safety & security.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the delivery of library and ICT services to students, staff and visitors of the University, the management of the Information
- Provide unified and integrated ITS services to all key stakeholder of the University;
- Planning and implementation of service delivery to achieve academic and business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing initiatives and ensure delivery of high-quality services;
- Establishing, updating, maintaining and enforcing ITS related policies, procedures, plans and budgets; Ensure budgetary performance and compliance to regulations, rules and policies;
- Maintaining and protecting ITS related assets (physical, data, intellectual);
- In line with current trends and developments in the ITS field, advise Management on appropriate and cost-effective investment in sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development;
- Work with departmental decision makers to identify, recommend, develop, and implement information and technology solutions for all aspects of the University;
- Advocate the organization's ITS vision via regular written and in-person communications with the University management, faculty, staff, and students;
- Provide quality assurance, through regular monitoring and evaluation of the ITS unit and the University systems; Establish and support procedures for gathering and analysing feedback from end-users;
- Supervise and actively manage the members of the ITS team; Provide vision, engagement and inspiration for the team; Ensure high-quality work performance and team collaboration and integration; Evaluate individual and team performance and identify training needs;
- Perform special projects and services as assigned by the Director of Administration and the President.

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will have:

Education

University degree in Information Sciences, Technology, Business Administration, Commerce or other relevant discipline or equivalent. Additional study or training in any of above would be an asset.

Experience

Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the area of information and technology services, including library and information resources, ICT infrastructure and systems development. Experience in managing personnel and complex team structures.

Skills and Knowledge

- Fluency in English essential;
- Experience of working within an international organization or multinational corporation;
- Ability to operate in a discrete and confidential manner;
- Ability to operate effectively in a multi-cultural environment;
- Excellent knowledge of ICT system development, database management, enterprise system management, management library services and related information systems;
- Extensive experience in managing teams;
- Experience in managing budgets;
- Ability to draft and enforce policies and procedures;
- Sound judgment in applying technical expertise to resolve issues/problems;
- An impeccable record for integrity and professional ethical standards is essential.
