Hardware Technician

Our client has an immediate opening for a talented and motivated Hardware Technician to work on the prototyping and testing of complex electro-mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with complex, dynamic electro-mechanical systems, possess excellent hands-on skills, and enjoy working both independently and in team settings. Further, this candidate should be familiar with the startup environment and the associated hours, deadlines and high energy culture that go with launching innovative new products. This position reports directly to the Manager of Hardware Engineering.

THE HARDWARE TECHNICIAN\'S RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Supporting both mechanical and electrical teams with all internal/external prototyping needs
- Supporting the Hardware team for all R&D testing and building of test fixtures
- Monitoring tests, collecting and organizing test data
- Writing test reports presenting test data and results
- Assembly of product prototypes and test equipment
- Writing and documenting test and assembly procedures
- Maintaining organized, safe electronics and mechanical labs
- Purchasing and tracking of supplies and components for all labs, testing and prototypes
- Taking on tasks as needed to help the Hardware team be more productive

MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

- AS in Engineering (or similar field) or additional 5 + years of equivalent technical experience
- 5+ years of experience working in the development of electro mechanical products or equipment
- Must be very good working with their hands
- Experience working in a machine shop fabricating components: milling, drilling, sanding, cutting, etc.
- Experience with soldering wires and components on PCB's
- Experience with wiring electronic equipment and building cable assemblies
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical problems
- Commitment to rigorous testing practices
- Experience using MS excel, Word and other MS Office software
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work well with teams
- Desire and energy to work in a fast-paced startup environment

THIS OPPORTUNITY IS WITH A RAPIDLY GROWING BOSTON AREA ROBOTICS COMPANY THAT IS REVOLUTIONIZING SUPPLY CHAIN OPERATIONS. The contract is expected to be 6 months long. The company's Mobile Fulfillment System uses hundreds of mobile robots to automate distribution centers, dramatically increasing both productivity and flexibility. Product users include national retailers, large catalog operators, E-commerce and other companies that ship direct to consumers, businesses and retail stores.
