Hardware Platform Application Engineer

Our world-leading client is building platforms for the Consumer Electronics market segment and enabling Independent Software Vendor (ISV) applications on their platforms. This contract offering is with the team responsible for working closely with hardware and software engineers from the ISV/OEM to help them design, port and integrate their applications on top of the client's software/hardware platforms.

The Hardware Platform Application Engineer provides customer design support for Service Providers Division's System-on-Chip products. HWPAE develops product design collateral, reviews customer's schematics and layout designs, and provides on-site power-on debug support for customer designs. The HWPAE must have the ability to quickly triage, root cause and develop fixes in a complex Embedded software environment.

REQUIREMENTS

- 5 - 7 years of related work experience
- 2+ years' experience in design, development, testing and utilization of platform level hardware including schematics and layout
- 2+ years' experience in test and power-on debug of board-level designs
- 2+ years' development of documentation to support hardware platforms ie data sheets, thermal design guides, architecture specs, etc.

NICE TO HAVE

- Working experience in Embedded software, firmware, or hardware development
- Hands-on experience with debugger tool
- Familiarity with processor architectures
- Experience in Linux operating systems and development tools
- Familiarity with media processing subsystems: Transport stream processing, Security processing, Video and Audio decoding and rendering, Graphics/Display processing
- Experience with consumer electronics platform design and development a plus
