Hardware Design Engineer

Hardware/Design/PCB/COTS/INSTRUMENTATION

My Somerset based company urgently require a Hardware Design Engineer on a 3-6 month contract.

The job role is primarily a design role but would include supporting the systems and integration teams in their integration, installation and verification activities for all projects undertaken within the division.

More specifically the role will require:

-Production of system and component level designs from requirements or procurement specifications.
-To generate requirements and specifications for systems and products.
-Electrical and electronic design capability at both PCB and at system level.
-Specifying mechanical components in support of system designs.
-Producing mechanical design concepts primarily for housing of electronic equipment's and components.
-Experience in interfacing between COTS instrumentation, sensors and systems and producing or working to interface control documentation.
-Installation and configuration of COTS and third party software applications.
-Experience in the configuration of network equipment such as Routers, serial Servers and Switches.
-Experience in fault diagnosis and rectification at system and component level.
-Production of technical documentation in support of design reviews and product testing.
-Production of installation, setting to work, and maintenance procedures, and writing operator manuals.
-Experience of working in a strict configuration controlled environment.
-Ability to specify product build standards for manufacture, internally and sub-contracted -An understanding of the principles of design for manufacture' would be a distinct advantage, as would previous experience of working to current production/manufacturing standards.

The role will occasionally require working off-site at a customer's premises.

The successful candidate will be able to work within a team environment of multi-disciplined specialists and engineering disciplines to achieve deadlines and customer deliveries as required.
