Hadoop Operations Engineer - Contract - Amsterdam

My client is multinational banking and financial services corporation headquartered in Amsterdam. They have an urgent requirement for a Hadoop Operations Engineer within a Big Data Platform team that supports numerous Data Science teams. This role will include running internal and customer POCs, Installations, support, develop and run benchmarks on Hadoop clusters.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
Work in installation of the Hadoop clusters, support of the cluster in client's environment.
Work closely with clients admin/operations team in setting and managing the Hadoop

Qualifications
Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent with 2 years + experience in professional services.
Extensive experience installing and managing Hadoop clusters
Experience to compile and install Linux applications from source, the Linux Kernel and Kernel modules
Strong understanding of network configuration, devices, protocols, speeds and optimizations
Experience with Python, Perl, or other Scripting language will be added advantage
Familiarity with the Java ecosystem and enterprise offerings, including debugging and profiling tools (jconsole), logging and monitoring tools (log4j, JMX), and security offerings (Kerberos/SPNEGO).
Experience in network-based APIs, preferably REST/JSON or XML/SOAP
This is an initial 6 month contract based in Amsterdam.
