Group Financial Accountant

GROUP FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT - FINANCIAL REPORTING

We have an exciting new opportunity for a group financial accountant to work on an initial 6 month contract for a large government organisation. We will be looking for this group financial accountant to convert the Annual Accounts of 46 divisions into a single control framework, and consolidate these bodies into a set of group accounts to meet Treasury accounting rules. We are looking for this group financial accountant to be part of the team that is responsible for the preparation of the Group consolidation Annual Report and Accounts. As the Group financial reporting accountant you will also act as a "finance Business partner" to various divisions.

GROUP ACCOUNTANT MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide high quality technical input, support and advice in relation to the consolidation of group divisions into DCMS annual report and accounts.
- Assist the various group divisions with the conversion process where they do not follow the Government Financial Reporting Manual.
- Ensure the group's division reporting packs are completed in a consistent manner in accordance with DCMS reporting guidance and prepare high quality audit files and papers for review by Senior Managers.
- Collaborate with other team members, and support flexibly all consolidation activities.
- Develop training/communications material for stakeholders and colleagues.

Group Accountant skills/experience:

- BRITISH RECOGNISED ACCOUNTING QUALIFICATION (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW....)
- Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills
- Strong experience of working in a Financial Accounting/Reporting role
- In-depth understanding of a number of Accounting Standards particularly SORP, IFRS, FReM
- Team player with strong communication skills who is used to operating to consistently high standards.
- Experience of producing consolidated accounts
- Knowledge of HM Treasury's guidance on Financial Reporting (FReM), Managing Public Money, Supply Estimates, Consolidated Budgeting Guidance
- Experience of using Prophix software
