GROUP CATEGORY MANAGER - 3 MONTH CONTRACT

We are currently recruiting for a Contract Group Category Manager:

To lead a team of purchasing professionals strategically managing up to £100m of Severn Trent's external expenditure.

The aim of the role is to deliver a sustainable supply chain to ensure Severn Trent Water's external expenditure is effectively managed to deliver the lowest cost and highest standards.

The Group Category Manager has an important part to play:

- Implementing a category management approach to procurement and lead creative/strategic thinking within the team. Ensure that the team works with colleagues throughout Severn Trent to develop and implement category strategies which meet Severn Trent's long term objectives.
- Ensure tenders and contracts: comply with all regulatory requirements, STW procedures and incorporate the requirements of SAP (eg catalogues, Work Force Management, Asset Management).
- Ensure that suppliers are effectively managed and driven to continuously improve their performance and costs. Support the team to ensure suppliers identify value adding opportunities and innovations.
- Effectively liaise and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that their business needs are met. The role will be a required to attend some stakeholder management meetings and may be required to act as a single point of contact for certain departments (eg is their single point of contact for all communications and issues).
- The role may also be required to undertake responsibility for specific high value, high risk categories of spend, including all the associated purchasing activity

The Group Category Manager will have experience:

- Strong commercial background with ideally an appropriate professional qualification eg CIPS
- Experienced people manager
- Understanding and experience of the EU Procurement Regulations (Public or Utilities)
- Significant experience and knowledge of purchasing processes (eg managing tenders SAP, Access, Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc.)
- The Group Category Manager must demonstrate
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Influencing skills
- An ability to manage stakeholders at all level
- The capability to be self reliant - able to work on own initiative
- The ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise own workloads

You will be educated to

Essential

- The role holder should be educated to degree level or equivalent

Desirable

- CIPS qualified or working towards
