Group Accountant - based in Cornwall

Must have significant experience of budget preparation, financial analysis, modelling and scenario planning

Job purpose

Effective financial management and accounting services and its Client Departments

Accountabilities

Supervision for the relevant accountancy team. Numbers may fluctuate throughout the assignment.

Functional competencies

Accounting/Financial Standards

Knowledge and comprehension of the law, regulation and best practice in relation to local government financial management and financial accounting. Demonstrable competence in delivery and enabling in this area, ensuring the key financial processes are compliant with relevant regulations.

Strategic and detailed budgeting

Has relevant experience of both high level and detailed medium term financial forecasting and budgeting

Management Accounting

Demonstrates ability to provide and enable financial advice in relation to financial standards, options appraisal, and financial modelling.

Commercial Awareness

Can demonstrate an ability to ensure a commercial approach can be to provided to financial considerations

Project management

Demonstrable experience of successful project management

Strategic and detailed financial advice

Has relevant experience of sensitively providing and enabling both high level and detailed financial advice, reflecting awareness of drivers and pressures of Services supported.

Knowledge of systems and systems development

This will include a high level of personal IT literacy and the ability to harness technology in improving team performance.

Qualifications, training or other requirements

CCAB qualified.

Minimum five years post CCAB experience.

Minimum five years senior level experience in Finance team.

An analytical mind but with the ability to communicate simply.

Strong personal communication skills both verbal and written.
