GIS Environmental Modeler Job

GIS ENVIRONMENTAL MODELER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in ST. LOUIS, MO.

- M.S. or above in Physical Geography or related field.
- Soil physics modelling (agricultural hydrology).
- ESRI GIS proficiency..

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- The GIS Environmental Modeler will provide GIS-based programming and modelling support to Company Biotech scientists for a wide range of geospatial projects.
- Duties include software development to model the complex environmental processes essential to crop yield prediction.
- Design, analyze and develop geo-spatial solutions and product specifications for infrastructure, hydrographic and physiographic features for global geo-spatial images and vector products.
- Performs geographic information systems (GIS) analyses on natural resources data.
- Plans, designs, develops, documents and analyzes spatial and relational databases.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- M.S. or PhD degree in Physical Geography or a related environmental field of study (Soil/Environmental/Agronomic Sciences, Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences etc.) with an emphasis on GIS-based investigations.
- Demonstrated experience in soil physics modelling (eg, agricultural hydrology related research)
- Proficiency in ESRI-based GIS programming such as ArcGIS python Scripting and/or ArcObjects, or equivalent open source experience.
- Experience with the management and querying of databases, especially for spatial data. Knowledge of working with SQL.
- Experience with analysis of environmental data, and/or precision agriculture preferred.
- Experience with graph database creation, management, and use.
- Knowledge of programming in R and/or SciPy for GIS-based statistical analysis.
- Good written and verbal communication.
