ABOUT THE ROLE FOR THE GIS DEVELOPER:
As an experienced GIS Developer you will be requested to perform various tasks related to the projects, products, applications and services. The consultant will be integrated to the GIS team. You will carry out tasks based on internal procedures and standards, GIS development policies and procedures regarding technology, workflows and methodologies, under supervision of the team lead GIS staff. You will also be extending the client's mapping and multi-layering tool, its geo-coding capacity to geo-names for world coverage. Contribute to design of solution and implementation solution. Explore feasibility of integrating with geo-names or other world libraries
KEY SKILLS FOR THE GIS DEVELOPER:
- Knowledge of the following standards: Web Feature Services (WFS), Web Map Services (WMS), Shape file
- Proven experience in developing using Arc-Objects, within ArcGIS for SharePoint, ArcGis for Silverlight API's and with ArcGIS Server 10 technology.
- Experience with SharePoint (MOSS 2010) and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)
- Experience in agile development methods, including Test Driven Development
- Required proficiency in information technologies
- Programming in .NET Framework 3.5 (VB.NET, Silverlight 4, ASP.NET, EF), Visual Studio 2008/2010 and Microsoft SQL Server
- Extensive experience in developing SOAP/REST web services
- University degree with minimum 4 years experience in IT, or non-University degree with minimum 6 years experience in IT
THE TASKS WILL INCLUDE:
- Supporting system development and update the Enterprise GIS according to its development plan.
- Successfully and in collaboration with the in-house GIS development resources to undertake the software development tasks assigned to him/her, that are part of the broader GIS software development activities:
- Develop save mapping session functionality
- Develop rates calculation function
- Enable for mapping of multiple fields from single CSV with multilayer rendering
- Design excel template for facilitate data entry for geo-names and NUTS coding
- Improve map export functionality
