Position Description:
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating multiple projects in support of a business area. This includes all aspects of a project life cycle such as project planning, development, change control, implementation, issue management, customer relationships, and team leadership. While this job does not have formal personnel management responsibilities, Senior Project Managers are expected to lead and mentor project teams and other Project Mangers. Work with project teams, customers, other Project Managers, and management to prioritize requirements and develop and maintain multiple project plans using approved tools. Include project charter and scope, phases, tasks, assignments, dependencies, and target dates. Determine resource roles needed and work with management to secure project team members. Establish and coordinate the plan for migration of projects into production. Manage customer expectations and communicate with other groups as needed to insure successful implementation.

20-40% Ensure coordination of multiple project delivery dates against estimates to keep the projects on schedule and within budget and scope. Demonstrate an understanding of the departmental cost model and utilization principles; ensure that team members are allocating time appropriately to project activities and recording accurately in approved time-tracking tool.

20-40% Work with Business Analyst and/or other project managers to define and document communication plan and promote a positive working relationship with customers. Maintain open and constant communication among internal team, customers, and management regarding project status. Perform analyses for changes to scope and negotiate/recommend course of action or escalate as appropriate.

10-20% Provide opportunities for other project managers and senior team members to use effective meeting management skills to initiate, develop agenda, conduct, and provide minutes so that all appropriate parties are kept up-to-date regarding project status and issues. Guide and direct the efforts of others to ensure that project team members communicate status and issues as appropriate.

10-20% Maintain a log of all project-related issues, and escalate to management, Business Analyst, or other appropriate parties, as necessary. Coordinate the resolution of issues and communicate resolution to all appropriate parties. Lead team in identifying and managing risk factors for projects and develop mitigation plans to address the risks. Ensure success of the project by taking ownership of deliverables and assist/perform analysis, testing, support, training, or other tasks as necessary.

10-20% Direct the tasks of project team members and model team leadership skills. Work with team members, other project managers, and management to resolve team issues.

5-15% Assist management with special assignments, such as evaluating vendors, gathering/evaluating consultant proposals, overseeing process improvement initiatives, or other responsibilities as requested. Provide input to personnel management decisions as appropriate. 5-15%

Qualifications:
Minimum Work Experience
At least five years project leadership/management experience with demonstrated success in delivering quality projects on time and at or under budget.
Demonstrated success as a leader/mentor to teams and other project managers.
Full software development life cycle experience and demonstrated success in developing and implementing contingency plans to ensure the success of projects
Experience with custom and third-party implementations MS Project or similar tool
Two years functional experience with full life cycle development in custom and/or packaged applications.
Experience with structured systems development, project management methodologies, and financial analysis.
Experience in media, news, and/or entertainment industry preferred Project management training/certification

Educational Requirements
BS in Computer Science, MIS, business, or equivalent education/training/experience
