GA - Senior Automation Engineer (Selenium Experience)

JOB PURPOSE:

THE SR. SOFTWARE QUALITY AUTOMATION ENGINEER is responsible for creating, implementing and supporting AUTOMATED TESTING for internal and external WEB APPLICATIONS, WEB SERVICES, AND DATABASE VALIDATIONS. This position will develop, document and support LARGE-SCALE, maintainable AUTOMATION FRAMEWORKS AND SCRIPTS USING A VARIETY OF OPEN SOURCE, PACKAGED, AND IN-HOUSE TOOLS AND LANGUAGES TO SUPPORT PRODUCT QUALITY INITIATIVES IN AN AGILE-FOCUSED SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION.

MUST HAVE SELENIUM 1.0 EXP. AND C#/.NET EXP. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Strong understanding of SOFTWARE QUALITY ASSURANCE (SQA) CONCEPTS and practices to continually assess the risks and quality of products and releases
-Builds and implements a scalable, reusable automation framework. Works with team to set best practice standards for usage of the framework and trains quality assurance personnel to enable them to use it.
-Develops modular AUTOMATED TEST SCRIPTS utilizing reusable functions and data-driven techniques and performs basic management of automation libraries
-Develops modular and robust automated test scripts utilizing domain specific language (DSL), exception handling, and other advanced automation techniques
-Develops and implements organize d, maintainable AUTOMATION SCRIPTS FOR COMPLEX .NET, JAVA, WEB SERVICES, AND DATABASE APPLICATIONS with various interaction points
-Works closely with quality assurance team to help them develop, maintain and execute automated test scripts, using the provided automation framework
-Develop innovative approaches to accommodate tight schedules and resource constraints using automation.
-Works with application teams to review existing test cases in order to convert or create automated tests cases.
-Documents and maintains automation testing procedures and tools.
-Manages the automation source code in a version control system in parallel with the associated applications under test
-Works with the Development team to modify applications to accommodate automation wherever possible
-Works with manual testers to enable automation suites to be executed on a regular basis to validate the quality of releases as well as daily builds.
-Reports, tracks and escalates anomalies discovered during testing and ensures closure on the issues. Helps teams use results to drive continuous improvement upstream
-Provides estimates for planning, development and execution of automated test cases.
-Continually researches new automated tools and techniques and evaluates them for opportunities for improvement
-Trains and mentors local and remote team members on automation processes and best practices.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS:

-5+ years SDLC QA AND TESTING experience
-3+YEARS .NET/WINDOWS AND WEB-BASED APPLICATION TESTING
-4+ years TEST AUTOMATION DEVELOPMENT experience
-2+ years hands-on experience with SELENIUM 1.0 OR SELENIUM WEB DRIVER
-3+ years hands-on experience with programming and SCRIPTING LANGUAGES (EG C# [preferred], Java, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, etc.)
-2+ years hands-on experience with relational databases and reading/writing SQL including joins
-2+ years hands-on experience testing or automating web services with tools such as SoapUI, WCF Storm, or ITKO LISA, etc.
-Solid understanding of automation best practices and architecture for scalability and maintainability
-Experience building a SCALABLE DATA-DRIVEN AUTOMATION FRAMEWORK.
-Excellent people skills with the ability to mentor team members and educate others on automation principles.
-Experience with AGILE/SCRUM methodologies
-Able to take direction, proactively seek out information and build productive working relationships
-Motivated, self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
-Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
-Strong verbal communication and writing skills
-Able to comfortably interact with personnel at multiple levels

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

-Experience with Team Foundation Server and Microsoft Test Manager as a big plus
