FUNCTION LEADER/HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT AND PROCESS

The University of Leeds One IT Department wish to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced professional IT Development and Process leader.

This role has direct responsibility for effectively managing the portfolio of programmes and projects across the University. Your experience of delivery and change management will enable you to lead these areas through a period of significant change. You will work closely with senior University representatives to ensure that the projects are aligned to University strategy through prioritisation, approval, management and execution of projects.

With significant experience working at senior management level, you will have a strong customer focus and be able to develop effective relationships with senior stakeholders, business users, architects, technicians and developers. Excellent communication and influencing skills are essential, together with the proven ability to lead a team of technical staff through the life cycle of key strategic projects.

Your significant experience of programme, project and IT management will enable you to deliver in the key areas, in particular:

- Supporting the development and communication of the University's IT strategic direction.
- Ensuring project delivery across the University is provided on time, budget and to the defined quality standards.
- Planning and process coordination and Management Information across the IT department, including reporting on the University project portfolio and budgets
- Developing the Project and Programme Management Framework across the University and ensure it is adhered to at all times
- Presenting monthly status reports, detailing the key issues, risks and recommendations relating to the delivery of the IT portfolio
- Developing the Programme Management Office (PMO) function and governance model for IT
- Developing the Supplier Management Framework, and the security, risk and compliance processes
- Leading the development of succession planning and coaching managers in their execution of their management responsibilities.
- Ensuring optimal resource mix is in place across IT Development and in line with forecast to improve the percentage of the IT resource spent on development rather than support
- Providing professional delivery management expertise in the transformation of strategic programme delivery across the University, ensuring roles and responsibilities are understood and appropriate steering groups are in place
- Liaison with University stakeholders to agree the University development portfolio and mechanism for changing priorities
