FRONT END WEB ENGINEER/DEVELOPER, PHP, MYSQL, HTML, CSS AND JAVASCRIPT, JQUERY, PIKT ASSOCIATE

ESSENTIAL

- A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computing or a related discipline. An equivalent vocational qualification would be considered.
- Knowledge of Full Lifecycle development using technologies on various platforms, preferably within a high availability online environment
- Experience in Software development using object-orientated languages such as PHP;
- Experience in Web programming, PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, jQuery

DESIRABLE

- Professional experience- 1-3 years
- Experience of Python or RoR, HTML5, CSS 3, Sass, CoffeeScript, Backbone.js
- Experience of Agile/TDD
- Experience of Usability and UX or working alongside design researchers

THE ROLE

As a Front End Web Engineer, you will be working in a creative, multi-disciplinary environment in a technical role. Your primary function will be to develop the associated web technologies to support the CrowdLab system. All data transfer is powered by a bespoke API - the challenge is to extract the data to present it back to clients in a useable manner and allow them to perform data analysis tasks live through an online dashboard. A user-centred design methodology will be adopted with support from the University of Leicester to provide a foundation to ensure a usable system. In what will be a particularly exciting project, following development of the initial system you will be involved in the market launch and support subsequent iterations.

The successful candidate will be passionate about problem solving and innovation, with a strong background in advanced software engineering, web programming and website development. You must be enthusiastic, have an inquisitive nature, strong commitment, a can do attitude, and possess the necessary skills and attributes to obtain information (both internally and externally held), analyse and interpret results and present them to the business. Excellent communication/presentation skills are needed to ensure support and buy-in' from all levels within the University of Leicester and Crowdlab. Knowledge transfer partnerships enable recently qualified graduates (known as PiKT Associates) to work in companies managing challenging projects central to the development needs of participating companies. 

AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY HAS ARISEN FOR AN ENTHUSIASTIC INDIVIDUAL TO WORK ON A ONE YEAR PROJECT BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY OF LEICESTER AND CROWDLAB LIMITED. BASED IN THE CENTRE OF LEICESTER, YOU WILL BE WORKING WITH CROWDLAB WHO ARE A NEW AND EXCITING MARKET RESEARCH COMPANY. THEIR OFFER IS A FULLY INTEGRATED SMART PHONE AND TABLET RESEARCH PLATFORM, SUPPORTED BY ONLINE DATA ANALYSIS AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT TOOLS. CROWDLAB HAS RECENTLY UNDERTAKEN AN AMBITIOUS COLLABORATIVE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT TO DELIVER NEXT GENERATION MOBILE SURVEY TOOLS WITH ADVANCED SOCIAL MEDIA FUNCTIONALITY.

Salary - up to £25,000 per annum.

Fixed term contract for one year
