FREELANCE TECHNICAL AND COMMUNICATION WRITER
In order to promote a common development culture, based on usage of a common set of tools and solutions, and to deliver reusable services for the information systems and development teams, the sector Service Oriented Solutions (SOS):
•designs, builds, delivers and supports modular service oriented solutions that can be shared by all web -
•defines, promotes and supports the technical reference architecture used by information systems, providing best practice guidelines, consultancy and technological watch;
oprovides services around the reference configuration for development, including client and server side tools and infrastructure for supporting the application development lifecycle;
oanimates the development community and maintains services around the developers collaboration platform based on Open Source Software, promoting and supporting Open Source development models for shareable components;
ocollaborates actively in service oriented engineering tasks with the section Information System Infrastructure Products;
Within this context, we do require a Freelance Technical and Communication Writer to help us producing and improving documentation.
TASK DESCRIPTION
This expert resource will provide assistance in producing documents at various technical levels, including vision documents, system architecture documents, functional specifications, technical specifications, user manuals, etc. The technical content would be provided but would need to be reviewed, reformulated, restructured and/or summarised in order to improve quality (readability, consistency, etc.) or to adapt it to new audiences for whom phrasing might be important (e.g. member states, specific committees, end-users, etc.).
Next to the help on the technical documentation, the consultant will also be responsible for writing news and articles, ensure social media presence, manage the events planning and create an editorial planning accordingly, organise the wiki as single point of entry, etc.
REQUIRED EXPERTISE
Skills.
•Technical writer
•Excellent knowledge of both spoken and written English
•General knowledge of IT and common methodologies, such as RUP and Waterfall
•Experience in writing documents targeting sensitive audiences
•Good communicator with an ability to learn
•Experience in IT projects managed in multi-cultural environments in an asset
