ROLE: FOUNDRY ENGINEER

REPORTS TO: FOUNDRY ENGINEERING TEAM LEADER

LOCATION: CORK, IRELAND

JOB TYPE: CONTRACT

RATE: NEGOTIABLE

START DATE: ASAP

ORGANISATIONAL INTERFACES:  

Engineering, Operations, QA, Maintenance, Facilities, Toolroom and Outside Suppliers and other Manufacture and Design Sites.

ROLE PROFILE:

- The primary purpose of this job is to support Foundry manufacturing through the continuous development of manufacturing processes and support day to day operations to achieve Value Stream targets
- The position is responsible as part of a team within the foundry to providing day to day technical support to the process and taking ownership of the metrics associated with the process.
- Through improvement activities positively contribute to the overall business metrics.
- This position will include liaison with outside suppliers and other Design & Manufacturing sites to ensure all goals and targets of the foundry process are achieved

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Support the day to day manufacturing operation environment to allow operations to meet its targets.
- Work with the team to ensure that there is maximum availability for processing product through the foundry process.
- Deliver key projects to the Value Stream which will positively impact on the key metrics.
- Drive process improvements/capacity increases through the introduction of new systems and techniques
- Ensure clear communication with respect to process activity through attendance at the daily production meeting, the weekly Matrix review and other appropriate meetings.
- Lead activities in the Shell area in relation to best practice and controlling the area through the application of the most relevant and up to date testing techniques.
- Liaison with external groups in relation to process development and foundry specific improvement activity. In particular working with our suppliers and the team from other sites.
- Provide support in relation to scrap reduction and the use of Six Sigma Tools in addressing scrap causes. Identify specific causes in the process and test and implement solutions to reduce scrap
- Focus on reduction of unit cost of production, through accountability for specific cells ie Consumable Cost, Scrap Cost and Cell Efficiency
- Working with the lean champions, identify and act on opportunities to improve lead time and streamline the process.
- Adhere to the company's procedures as detailed in the SOP Manual. Seek to improve and standardise operating procedures where possible
- Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with the GMP requirements maintained by the Company.
- Maintain and update the relevant specifications and conduct IQ/OQ/PQ and associated documentation as required.
- Provide input and assistance relating to machine/process breakdowns.
- Implementation of safety/environmental issue on purchase of all new equipment.
- All employees are responsible for minimizing both the Environmental and Health & Safety effects of the work that they perform

Technical Skills
Essential:

- Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering/Science discipline, with 5+ years relevant experience.
- Experience in regulated industry, FDA, ISO, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to lead significant projects to completion, on time and within budget
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to make effective decisions

DESIRABLE:

- Knowledge of the foundry processes
- Knowledge of Pharmaceutical process
- Six Sigma Experience
- 3D CAD/CAM experience within a regulated industry
- Knowledge of robot problem solving/maintenance
- Engineering Degree
