Forensic Scientist

Examine IED and non IED related material in accordance with FEG and other operational designated priority criteria

Provide comparative analysis capability to assist with operations.

Examine latent marks and identify those of searchable value. Submit to appropriate databases over approved communications channels as appropriate.

Provide expert analysis, comparison and evaluation of finger, palm and plantar marks recovered from crime scenes with finger, palm and plantar prints taken from individuals in the course of an investigation.

Perform the first, second or third verification of any identification.

Perform quality checks of the taking of finger, palm, phalange and plantar prints from reference enrolments.

Maintain contemporaneous notes throughout examination process and complete appropriate reporting outputs.

Provide expert analysis, comparison and evaluation of finger marks, using appropriate software and databases, preserving continuity and integrity of evidence.

Provide expert witness statements as appropriate.

Assist with identification verification and QA/QC as appropriate

Provide advice/training to team and external agencies as appropriate
