Flight Systems Engineer

Flight systems Engineer with Demonstrable experience required for leading defence company based in Warton. Please note, the successful candidate will be required to gain SC Clearance prior to start.

Job Description

The purpose of this role is to support definition, studies, workshops and development of flight systems.

The successful candidate will work within the Typhoon Electrical Power Generation Support team. To develop and supply a technical expertise in the In-service support of the Typhoon Electrical Power Generation System (EPGS). The role will primarily be technical and will involve being part of a team which discharges all aspects of EPGS Support such as upkeep of the EPGS Technical Publications, rapid response to EPGS-related queries from both our Customer airforces and our EPC Build Lines and support to the EPGS SDR when additional resource is required. The role also requires the development and maintenance of working relationships across interfacing disciplines, suppliers and Customers.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following:

Requirements definition, trade studies, specification, design and development, qualification, clearance and certification of flight systems
Equipment engineering, including market surveys, equipment selection, specification, supplier management and liaison
Interface with Airframe and Design engineering to integrate systems at platform level
Liaison with specialist departments to define system requiremetns and integrate systems
Definition of test procedures to prove system performance
Support of tests at platform level
Support to regular workshops
Typhoon General Systems is responsible for the engineering specification, development, clearance and support of the Typhoon General Systems (including, Fuel, Crew Escape, Life Support, Aircrew Equipment, Electrical Power Generation, Environment Control, Utility Control Systems and Actuation).
A Vacancy exists for an Electrical Power Generation System Engineering Support Delivery Team engineer. The jobholder will need specialist knowledge and technical expertise in Electrical Power Generation Systems, testing and the resolution of system and equipment problems.

The successful candidate will be qualified to HND standard or degree level in Engineering or be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge, experience and product expertise. Applicants should be proficient in verbal and written communications, IT competent and be able to effectively research system design data and demonstrate creative problem solving skills. They need to be effective team workers supporting, co-operating with, coaching and working with others to achieve common objectives.
Experience in the role of design, developing and supporting engineering products would be an advantage.

The Individual

The following will be required of the successful candidate:

Demonstrable experience in Flight Systems engineering (or suitable skills to transfer and develop into these areas).
Vehicle Management System experience desirable
Experience of some phases of the Product Lifecycle
Some experience in Supplier management
Ability to analyse information and apply some engineering judgement to solve problems
Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to section leaders and peers
Experience in software tools used by Flight Systems (such as Flowmaster and Matlab) is desirable
BSc/BEng (Hons) qualification or equivalent
Some knowledge of relevant engineering standards (including safety and environment regulations)
Aware of UK and International competitors
