Financial Product Controller

Bank of America Merill Lynch based in St Paul's have a requirement for a Financial Product Controller/Analyst. Ad hoc data analysis and reporting will be required.

Responsibilities

*Analyse day to day front to back responsibilities of operational reconciliation processes to identify best practices and highlight identified shortfalls.
*Develop and administer specialised reconciliation training associated to detailed operational processes across multiple product lines focusing on day to day responsibilities through to month end reconcilement.
*Point person to assist in analysis and issue resolution pertaining to the balance sheet involving, but not limited to:
-Risk identification and reporting
-Monthly balance sheet reconciliation requirements
-Manual entry analysis
-Ad Hoc data analysis and reporting

*Be the lead contact for multiple Operations lines of business across multiple regions, assisting in any balance sheet and/or accounting control related issues.
*Form working relationships with the aforementioned lines of businesses to assist the teams in proactively improving controls and developing efficiencies through best practices and reconciliation enhancement.
*Become a subject matter expert in the application of corporate compliance.
*Responsible for handling multiple simultaneous tasks with strict deadlines in a fast paced environment.
*Develop management reporting to track progress of task completion with the ability to present results to senior stakeholders on a regular basis.

Requirements

Based on the above, the main requirements for this role are:
*Qualified CIMA/ACCA accountant with 3 year PQE experience of operations practices and preferably an audit background
*Demonstrated strong financial control or product control mindset with a strong understanding of end-to-end flows of an investment bank from trading system to sub-ledger and general ledger.
*Proven proactive ability to effectively communicate and build strong relationships and credibility with peers, subordinates and senior management through a variety of communication methods and across multiple locations/regions
*Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with a demonstrated ability to handle large volumes of data proficiently
*Self starter - works on own initiative and with a willingness to help others in order to meet targets and objectives
*Work within a team but also has the ability to work for extended period in standalone roles
*Experience working with offshore teams
*Knowledge of/experience with SOX 404 compliance and accounting policies
*Demonstrated ability to build out management information reporting to communicate effectively up to senior levels of management
*Strong attention to detail
