Financial Accounting Manager - Chester based - Contract role - £500-£700 Daily rate

A Large Financial Services Organisation based in Chester is currently seeking to recruit a Financial Accounting Manager to join Finance project team.
As a Financial Accounting Manager you will ensure the month end and year end processes are completed to scheduled deadlines, in accordance with UK and US GAAP and with a superior control environment. This includes all aspects of accounting and its subsidiaries. You will work closely with Finance and Reporting teams to ensure there are no unexpected variances at month end.
Responsibilities of a Financial Accounting Manager:

*Lead on ensuring that appropriate financial control is in place and maintained across the bank. Monitor and report to management through 'issues list' process.
*Act as Financial Controller for subsidiaries.
*Manage relationships with internal and external audit and ensure all audits are completed with a minimum of differences or recommendations.
*Manage relationship with Taxation ensuring good communication and sharing of information.
*Manage the statutory accounting process for all entities (approx 40 entities).
*Provide technical accounting guidance within the Finance division and to the business, liaising with US counterparts where required.
*Be closely involved with all significant business initiatives both from an operational and technical accounting perspective.
*Regularly report and present to senior management, including CFO.
*Manage and introduce process change to ensure continued compliance with accounting guidelines and internal policies and also to ensure optimal efficiency of process.
*Play a leading role on key Finance projects including Company Rationalisation, Finance Systems Roadmap and any projects with an impact on the general ledger.
*Oversee management of the Accounting Operations team ensuring that operational processes are efficient and effective and that key external banking relationships are well managed.
*Own the Reconciliation Control function ensuring that appropriate and accurate reconciliation processes are in place throughout.
*Complete all aspects of People management duties; recruitment, development, appraisals etc for a team of approximately 10 associates, many of whom are qualified accountants.

Essential experience of a Financial Accounting Manager:

*Knowledge of the financial services industry and cross functional business acumen
*Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of UK GAAP with a preferred knowledge of US GAAP
*Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
*Experience of managing a team with the proven ability to prioritise and organise workload on a changing basis
*Project Management experience
*Qualified accountant with minimum 5 years PQE
