Financial Controller, Interest Rates, Derivatives

My client, a large investment bank, requires a Financial Controller to sit within their Product Control function. The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Accountant with experience in balance sheet management and good knowledge of interest rate/derivative products.

Main responsibilities:

BALANCE SHEET SUBSTANTIATION AND PRESENTATION OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

- To perform a regular and detailed balance sheet substantiation of the general ledger for the business
- To ensure appropriate presentation of the balance sheet in line with the accounting requirements and policies.
- To perform detailed analytical review of the balance sheet movements and to explain all stakeholders
- Preparation of consolidated IFRS accounts & submission of Group disclosures and ensuring the overall quality of presentation of the P/L and Balance Sheet is accurate, correctly classified and of the highest quality
- Working with valuation and accounting controls, Regional and Central Hedging Unit, Accounting Policy, and Operations to ensure accuracy and completeness of balances posted to the general ledger.
- To interact with the Front Office for Balance Sheet & Financial Reporting matters.

Essential:

- Top grade A levels (or equivalent)/Top 30 University degree (Class 2:1 or equivalent) - Relevant degree
- Accounting qualification (ACA,ACCA, CFA)
- Experience in P&L/Balance Sheet Review and Analysis
- Experience in Interest Rate Products/Derivatives is necessary (Bonds, Swaps, and Money Market Products etc.
- Strong understanding of Accounting Framework for Financial Instruments and Hedge Accounting(IAS/IFRS)
- Experience in Trading Systems (eg SUMMIT,MUREX,TREATS,OTP, R&N)
- Experience of dealing and managing processes with offshore teams
