The key purpose of the role is to ensure that the resource, systems and controls in place are sufficiently robust to deliver all the reporting requirements to an exceptionally high standard to strict deadlines. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and developing the reporting systems to enhance current management information provision and cater for future reporting requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensuring the respective finance teams prepare and submit P&L, B/S and cash flows on a timely basis.
- Manage all activities in relation to statutory, regulatory and control accounting
- Managing key Finance functions including all ledger activities and financial systems
- Manage cashflow reporting and planning for HISL and manage all banking relationships
- Balance sheet integrity and control
- Attend key internal committee meetings to represent finance and deploy a control framework
- Overall responsibility for maintaining and developing the IT systems utilised within the finance departments.
- FCA compliance reporting and monitoring
- Recruitment, development of staff and departmental functions to ensure appropriate level of skills and succession is maintained
- Working with the Group Tax manager to ensure the company is compliant with HMRC requirements and to consider tax planning with a group view
- Working with all areas of the business to ensure adequate controls are in place covering all aspects of the business ie financial and operational.
- Develop in conjunction with management both strategic and tactical plans
- Further develop where appropriate finance teams to ensure objectives are delivered
- Provide Change Management leadership to the organisation
SKILLS
- A highly commercial individual with excellent business knowledge. Will possess excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with enhanced communication. Will take ownership and be fully accountable for issues identified, demonstrating problem solving & decision making skills. Will be extremely proactive and able to plan and organise resource appropriately to deliver results.
- Strong problem solving, analytical and numerical skills to rapidly develop insights and conclusions to complex arguments, and strong presentation skills to clearly communicate recommendations.
- ACCA/ACA/CIMA Qualified with at least 8 years post qualification experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels. The role holder will have the ability to provide articulate, concise and accurate communications both verbally and in writing.
- A highly driven individual to act proactively with the overall interests of the business.
- Able to forge and build working relationships with key personnel across the business
- Ability to think laterally
- The ability to multi task is a pre-requisite given the scope of this role
- A proven track record on creating value for companies
- Extensive experience reporting at a senior level with a track record of delivering results under pressure.
- Experienced in tax computation and knowledgeable of IPT/VAT/Corporation Tax
- Previous experience of managing and leading teams
- Previous experience in the preparation of statutory accounts
- A demonstrable background in usage of procedures and controls.
- A good understanding of the insurance/financial services market would be an advantage
