Financial Controller

This wide ranging and challenging role includes the following specific responsibilities:

- Support the production and control of all Statutory financial & supplemental data for all M&IB units in accordance with IFRS, as required for completion of the Group's Financial Statements or periodic group reporting
- Support the provision of all necessary adjustments to ensure the appropriate reporting of the M&IB divisional financial statements, including full substantiation and review thereon
- Review & challenge the Business Unit Controllers on errors in their submissions or missed deadlines
- Support the analysis and provision of commentaries as required at an appropriate level for all statutory financial & supplemental data, for all units within M&IB. Provide support for the population and review of all Statutory financial & supplemental data on Walker
- Support the production & review of key monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, and facilitate accurate & timely signoffs for monthly Balance Sheet Substantiation purposes
- Support the calculation & posting of monthly journals for items such as Balance Sheet netting etc
- Support the preparation & posting of various Consolidation & Elimination adjustments
- Support the review & control of key Balance Sheet items such as Own Credit Adjustments, Latent Provisions, Trading Reserves etc.
- Support the SOX testing & sign off for all Financial Control owned deliverables, including review of key controls and processes
- Support the analysis and review of the spot and average balances sheets, including analysis of underlying yields and provision of commentaries for key movements
- Manage the completion & review of standard month end working papers, including adherence to SOX controls

Other responsibilities:

- Provide finance expertise on banking products for disclosure purposes.
- Environment (inc SOX) governance.
- Engagement of key stakeholders in GCA, GFS and BUC.
- Collaborate with the wider Statutory Reporting team to ensure that related processes and efficiencies are aligned.

ESSENTIAL:

- Financial Control/Statutory Reporting from banking experience
- Qualified Accountant (any institute) or qualified by related experience with strong record of application within a business environment
- A strong understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards
- An understanding of a Bank's financial statements
