Financial Control Accountant

Our client is looking for a Financial Control Accountant to join their London based team. This is a contract role that has a 6 month duration.

The client is looking for a candidate to take responsibility for co-ordinating a number of the control related functions within the department, to assist in various reporting requirements both locally and to head office, and also to provide project and accounting support as required.

MAIN ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Day to day production assistance around all elements of Financial Reporting and Control, including monthly submissions to Tokyo, analysis and preparation of GAAP differences, intercompany, fixed assets, and hedge accounting.
- Assistance in the preparation of UK statutory accounts as required
- Involvement in monthly balance sheet substantiation process across Finance
- Participation in Finance-wide projects where required, including the Transformation project
- Development of team's processes to ensure constant progression and efficiencies
- Maintenance, documentation and collation of SOX evidence
- Perform any other ad-hoc assignments or initiatives as required by the Head of Financial Control.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Strong accounting background
- Banking experience
- Understanding of accounting for investment banking products such as bonds, repos, derivatives
- Good IT skills - Microsoft applications
- Qualified accountant or sufficient knowledge by experience

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

- Balance sheet control experience within an investment banking/securities environment
- Post qualification audit exposure
