Financial Accountant - Consolidation

Main Duties/Responsibilities
Accounting advice to the business including: Financial Instruments Financial Minutes/guarantees Advise of the departments specific complex accounting treatments, application of accounting for specific programmes Finance Leases Capital grant in kind and other transfers Plus, closure issues faced by bodies within the boundary to carry out detailed analytical work in respect of application of balances transferring to the department or other bodies within the boundary including any requirement for restatement of prior year balances and the application of these changes onto the consolidation system. This is an intense piece of work requiring detailed knowledge of the body concerned, their accounts, SAP and Prophix. Each closure must be analysed individually to ensure the correct application for transfer of balances is carried out correctly and that any impact on SAP is fully considered and applied - this will require detailed T accounts covering each body for each element of the closing balances plus the completion of any Prophix templates to apply the changes to the consolidation - often after the bodies themselves have closed and the finance teams left. A resource who can lead the team on a day to day basis, provide support for processes and advice for generic issues. Any additional support must be a team player, qualified with knowledge of complex consolidations and able to lead and develop a team

Outputs/Deliverables to be achieved:-
Attendance at closure board to represent FRAT and take forward relevant accounting issues arising from closure of bodies. Provision of support and advice to FRAT in complex accounting treatments. Provision of support to the team to prepare for Q2 accounts including building of templates for consolidation, reconciliation of accounting and budgeting systems, impact of recognition of closure liabilities in the departments accounts.

Skills/Experience Required:-
Essential Recent experience of producing consolidated accounts and an understanding of closure of bodies within the consolidation boundary Desirable SAP and Prophix experience

Formal Qualifications Required:-
Essential Qualified accountant Desirable
