Financial Accountant

Our client are a large local government organisation and are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team. This is initially a 1 year contract which may be extended for the right candidate.

Our client is looking for someone who can come on board and develop strategic relationships with Senior Managers ensuring effective communications and relationships. You will also Business Partner on all aspects of area/departmental budgets and provide consistent, accurate and informed advice as well as professional training to budget holders to enable them to make effective decisions. You will also be tasked with re-designing and embed processes in order to remove duplication and reduce non added value work through leaner processes. The successful candidate will prepare business cases and monitor methodologies to consider targeted investment or reductions in resources as well as deliver Statutory Financial Statements in accordance with CIPFA code of Practice.

To be considered for this role you will be a qualified accountant with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience of accounting and budgeting within a large organisation. Any local authority accounting experience would be a great advantage, as would knowledge of taxation issues.
